Deaf Ministry

Deaf Mission

Those attending Deaf Mission of First Baptist Church range from pre-lingual deaf to hard-of-hearing to deaf/blind and hearing individuals. We believe that deaf people can and should be the leaders of their own church and church programs. For this reason, we have separate worship services from the “hearing church.”

Our worship is a celebration of faith through music and songs in sign language, singing for the congregation and special songs by the deaf choir. Interpreters are available to help hearing people understand what is being signed.

Our emphasis is on the study of God’s Word, so we have Christian LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone) classes taught by deaf people for deaf people of all ages. We also have our annual Winter Bible Study and special events during the year.
