The Ministry of Christian Worship

Christian worship is our heartfelt and mindful response to God, in both word and deed. For most of us, the word worship produces the image of a group of people gathered singing, praying and listening. At First Baptist, that image is most likely a nearly full sanctuary on a Sunday morning. In others words, if one were present each Sunday at FBC for worship, it might be called WORSHIP 52. That is, worship once a week for 52 weeks. That would be faithful attendance, would it not?

What about WORSHIP 365? What if we sought to worship God every day? What if each of us intentionally and faithfully viewed our work, our daily chores, and our relationships as opportunities to live a life that is ever-aware of the presence of God? What if each day we found ways to worship God through serving others?

The Worship Creative Team is helping us to think deeper and more broadly about the role of worship in our lives. This team is developing ways and resources for everyone to discover a worship-filled life by:

  • Evaluating and providing creative input for our Sunday morning services
  • Nurturing the private devotional/worship life of the congregation
  • Providing educational opportunities to develop worship leadership skills and enhance our understanding of the nature of worship

One of the tools we provide for your daily worship is "Your Daily Appointment With God" - a devotional guide written by First Baptist staff and members. You can access it here on our website, or sign up to receive it via email each day. Click on the link at the top of this page.

Baptists are good at coming to church! But are we engaged worshippers of the Living God? How much of our time spent in corporate worship is focused on God? What would happen if worship was 365 vs. 52?

Worship 365… on earth as it is in heaven.
