Pre-Kindergarten
Each week, we study a letter of the week. Our oldest class works
with sounds as well as letters.
We write in journals.
In the youngest class, we use "Let's Find Out" from Scholastic and our other
three classes use "Weekly Reader."
We study two countries in each class, and then all four classes
put on a program for our parents and grandparents to show what
we have learned about our countries.
Our oldest group of Pre-K students also learn sign language.
In addition to weekly Chapel Services & Music Class, children visit the
Children’s Library for a weekly storytime & to check out a book.
We have the First Sprouts program where we plant and harvest
vegetables with "Dr. Potato Head" (Dr. Len Morrow).
We work with numbers and learn to count by 1's and 10's, culminating in a
celebration on the 100th day of school. Our oldest class also learns to count by
5's. The drawn faces that you see throughout our site are the faces of our Pre-K children!
Each child in Pre-K draws his or her face. Then, all the faces in each class are
put together in one design and t-shirts are made for each class member and
teacher.
We are in Pre-K each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Our curriculum has been developed by our faculty and is based
on developmentally appropriate activities and practices. Our goal
is to prepare children for kindergarten in a happy and nurturing
environment. Our motto: It's OK to have too much fun!
