Our Pre-K class is for children who will be 4 by Septemer 30th. It meets from
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help prepare children for the longer day that is in
kindergarten. We cover many important readiness skills for kindergarten, while
having lots of fun! Our curriculum has been developed by our faculty and based
on the State of Virginia’s “Foundation Blocks for Early Learning”
uppercase/lowercase letter recognition
beginning sound sort
number recognition and recognizing groups of numbers
sorting objects by color, size, and shape
learning to count by 1’s, 5’s,
continued development of cutting/coloring/gluing skills

put on a “Small World” program for our parents and grandparents to showcase
what we have learned about our countries.
Our PreK classes meet with
Reading Buddies monthly from Anna Julia Cooper School and participate in

Our curriculum has been developed by our faculty and is based
