Vacation Bible School | June 23 - 27
 |
Experiencing
Jerusalem Marketplace
is our theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School.
Children, ages 3 years through 5th grade, will learn what it was like to live and work in the city of Jerusalem during the time of Jesus. |
On-line
registration coming soon!
Each day the
children will participate in group assembly, synagogue school, music and dance,
and the Marketplace. During our morning group assembly, the children will
worship through drama and music. They will then experience a rotation of
classes. During synagogue school, the children will learn their daily Bible
verse and hear the Bible story. Music and dance class will provide the children
an opportunity to worship through songs as well as Israeli folk dances.
Each day, our
children will explore the Marketplace to learn about Bible times culture and see
a glimpse of what it might have been like for Jesus. Shops in the Marketplace
will include carpentry, pottery, jewelry-making, candy, bakery, musical
instrument making, weaving, herbs and spices and basket-making.
While
demonstrating their crafts and skills, the shopkeepers, who will be dressed in
Bible times costumes, will tell of the latest news of Jesus. All children will
be a part of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Daily the small group tribe
will meet to talk about how the stories of Jesus and the marketplace relate to
their lives today.
There are
several opportunities to help with Vacation Bible School. We need volunteers to
be tribe leaders and shopkeepers during the actual mornings of VBS. There are
opportunities to help with set design, assembly of the Marketplace in addition
to volunteers to help with preparation of craft materials. There are many
opportunities to help with this ministry even if you are unable to attend.
