Lynn Turner coordinates the ministries for youth grades 7-12, career, and
the Discipleship Programs of the church. She has been a part of the FBC staff
since 1988.
Lynn's major roles include:
- Coordinate and Lead Youth Ministries
- Supervise College and Career Ministries
- Assist with planning and coordinating the Discipleship Program and Appointment
with God Devotional Book
- Worship Leader as a part of the staff team
- Staff Liaison to Prayer Ministry Team, Scholarship Committee, Youth
Ministry Committee
- Coordinate Deacon Koinonia groups
Our Youth Ministry consists of youth grades 6-12 from over 35 schools in
the Richmond area. Our Youth Ministry Team consists of the Youth minister, 2
ministry assistants(Ann Carter with grades 6-7 and Andy Berry with grades 8-12,
Youth Ministry Committee, Parent Lead Teams, Youth Bible Study Teachers,Creative
Team Leaders and our Youth Council.
We have four major emphasis with our Youth: Fall Retreat, DiscipleNow
Weekend, Summer Missions, and Youth Evangelism Conference. Our ongoing
weekly activities consists of Sunday Morning Bible Study, Youth Choir, Sunday
Evening Discipleship and Worship, Wednesday Night Creative Teams.
Our Career Adults consists of young single adults in their 20’s who come
together for fellowship and to grow together in their walk with Christ. They
meet each week for Bible study on Sunday mornings and Thursday nights and have
special events, luncheons, retreats, fellowships throughout the year.
The Mission Statement for our church begins, "First Baptist Church exists
to make Disciples for Christ…" Discipleship is at the heart of all that we do.
Discipleship classes are offered throughout the year at First Baptist Church.
The classes range from in-depth studies such as “Disciple”, to 3-4 week classes
on various topics of the Christian Life. There are opportunities to sign up
for these classes in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
Lynn has a BS in education from Francis Marion University in South Carolina,
an MS in Counseling from the University of Tennessee, and MARE from the Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas. Prior to coming to Richmond, she taught
school, served as a guidance counselor in South Carolina and Texas, and was
on staff at Gambrell Street Baptist church in Fort Worth Texas.
