Associate Minister of Music and Organist

Becky Payne has served as FBC's Associate Minister of Music and Organist since 1990. She plays for all church services and directs the JoySingers, our senior adult choir,. She also assists with weddings and funerals, and is a consultant in the senior adult area. Becky also assists with ministry planning and pastoral care.

Her primary duties include:

  • Accompany worship services, concerts, funerals, weddings
  • Rehearse with soloists and instrumentalists
  • Accompany the Youth Choir and Ensemble
  • Direct the JOYSingers Senior Adult Choir
  • Staff Coordinator to Senior Adult Activities Committee
  • Staff Consultant to Senior Adult Passion Team

Ms. Payne is a graduate of William Carey College, in Hattiesburg, MS, where she received her degree in Church Music with a major in organ performance. She also holds the Master's of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, with a major in vocal performance. She has previously served as Organist/Music Assistant at First Baptist Church, Dothan, AL, and First Baptist Church, Jackson, MS. Ms. Payne is a native of Lucedale, MS. She has written articles on children's choir for Church Musician Magazine and has published organ arrangements in Pedalpoint Magazine.

She has three brothers: John, Rod and Van.
