Alan Jones is Minister to University Students at First Baptist Church and
Baptist Campus Minister at Virginia Commonwealth University. He presently splits
his time between the two ministries, being at First Baptist Monday and Tuesday
of each week and on campus at the Baptist Student Union Wednesday and Thursday.
Alan is a self-confessed mystic at heart, a sojourner on the journey of faith
seeking God’s longing for his life as he lives into the reality of his personal
faith experience in Christ. His desire for students is to leave their college
experience with an integrative faith, one that validates the resurrection of
Christ in their lives and continually transforms their hearts and informs their
actions no matter where they find themselves along the incredible and wonderful
spiritual journey of knowing and growing in Christ Jesus.
He is a native of Waycross, GA, a graduate of Auburn University, Auburn,
Alabama, and attended Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. He served as
Recreation Minister at FBC, Richmond, for six years prior to being called to
his present position.
