Stephen “Steve” C. Booth serves as Associate Pastor for
Christian Formation. He and the other formation staff ministers
partner with gifted lay leaders to develop and implement programs and
ministries for assisting seekers and believers in participating in God’s
“on-going process of conforming all persons into the image of Christ for
the sake of others.”
Opportunities for learning, contemplation, and service are
designed to encourage the formation of the whole person - “head, heart, and
hands.” In addition to serving as team leader for the formation staff team,
Steve provides primary
leadership and direction to the following ministries: Sunday morning Bible
Study; discipleship classes, workshops, and seminars; small groups;
spiritual direction; individual and group retreats; new member orientation
and assimilation; and the equipping of ministry leaders.
Steve was
ordained by the Highland
Baptist Church,
Louisville, Kentucky. He came to
First
Baptist Church
after having served churches in Virginia, North Carolina, and Indiana. Steve is a native Mississippian with
family roots in North Carolina.
He is a graduate of Campbell
University and The
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds the Doctor of Ministry
degree in supervised ministry from Andover Newton
Theological
School.
He and his wife, Barbara, are parents of Jordan, Megan, and Meredith and
grandparents to Jackson. Jordan and his wife, Erin, are
Jackson’s
parents. Megan, and her husband, Peter, live in Charleston, SC.
