Steve Booth has served as First Baptist Church's Associate Pastor for Adults
since 2002.
Steve's primary ministry area is Adults, 22-59, primarily married adults
but inclusive of single adults who are members of Adult 1 and 2 Sunday morning
Bible study groups.
leads in developing opportunities for spiritual growth and service for his
age group that contribute to the formation of Christ-like character, resulting
in a life of service to others and witness to Christ. Elements of this
ministry role include:
- Coordination of Sunday morning Bible study groups (Adult 1 and 2 departments)
- Discipleship growth classes, workshops, and seminars
- Providing pastoral care during crises and other significant life events
- Marriage and family enrichment opportunities
- Service and mission opportunities
- Equipping of ministry leaders
Steve came to First Baptist Church after having served in Indiana, Virginia
and North Carolina as pastor, pastoral educator, field education supervisor,
adjunctive faculty member, and congregational consultant. He has been in the
full-time ministry since 1979. Steve is a native Mississippian with family roots
in North Carolina. He received the B.S. degree from Campbell University and
the Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Louisville, KY.
He was honored as Christian Educator of the Year in 1999 by the Southern
Baptist Religious Education Association.
He and his spouse, Barbara, are the parents of three children - a son, Jordan,
and two daughters, Megan and Meredith.
