The Divorce Recovery Workshop
at First Baptist Church strives to provide a safe place for
all people who are suffering from the loss of a relationship
through separation, divorce, or breakup. We work very hard
to make sure that everyone who attends the workshop will feel
comfortable and accepted regardless of their faith, back ground,
education, socio-economic status, age, gender or role in their
relationship loss. We approach our ministry with a Christian
Heart and call to serve but we do not evangelize.
The philosophy of the workshop is to allow
each person to move along their spiritual and recovery
journey at their own pace. We believe that, accepting each
individual has their own unique and valid journey, and
acknowledging that their truth is not necessarily everyone’s
truth,
works well to keep our small groups and the workshop “safe”
for all participants.
Divorce recovery focuses on helping participants
to heal from their emotional wounds, not on “how to
get divorced.” Rather than offering advice, we offer
care and a gentle loving acceptance. Rather than experts,
we are servants, guides and fellow travelers on the journey.
Our goal is to provide a safe place where our participants
can find community, care, acceptance, and love. A safe place
in which to begin their journey towards healing and discovering
their own "Future with Hope."
