The First Baptist Church Podcast Network

Welcome to the First Baptist Church Podcast Network!

You can get automatic notification when a new sermon is available on our web site. You may read a transcript of the sermon and download an audio file to carry with you on your iPod or any other MP3 player. You may also save it on your computer and play it back whenever you like.

How does it work?

If you have iTunes or other Podcast software, or an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) reader on your computer, those programs will check our web site automatically to show you what's new and give you the opportunity to download whatever you want. The advantage of using an RSS reader is that you'll get a link to read a transcript of the sermon, in addition to downloading or listening to it.

There are four ways to get the sermons into your computer:

  • If you have iTunes on your computer, subscribing to the FBC Podcast is easy:

Click here and you'll be taken directly to iTunes and the FBC Podcast. Once there, just click on "Subscribe" and you're ready to go.

    or

Open iTunes and click on "Advanced" at the top of the window.
    Click on "Subscribe to Podcast..."
A new window will appear, into which you enter the URL of the podcast. Enter - http://www.FBCRichmond.org/podcast.xml - then click "OK."
Click on "Podcasts" on the left side of the screen, under "Library" and you'll see all the sermons available.

The advantage of this second method is that you can sort the library by preacher.

  • Download our custom iPodder (free) and install it on your computer.
  • (Recommended) The iPodder checks automatically for new sermons that have been added. You can download the audio file to play on your computer and/or transfer to your iPod.
Download our custom iPodder
with the FBC Podcast already selected!
  • Download a free RSS reader. (There are lots to choose from. NewsGator is one possibility, but there are lots of others.) After you install the RSS reader, you may click on the button below, or just point your browser to http://www.fbcrichmond.org/podcast.xml. You may even save the FBC Podcast Site as one of your Favorites. The links on the RSS page point you to the printed transcript of the sermon as well as the audio file. From there, you may download the audio file as described below.

  • Right click any sermon link below and select "save target as." Then you may download the audio file to your computer. Once it is downloaded, you may play it back using your Windows Media Player or RealPlayer, save it on your IPod, burn it to a CD and take it with you in the car, or even email it to a friend.
