U 2 Can Do
Volunteers Make It Happen By Making A Difference
Children Can Do
Children of all ages can contribute to the betterment of their community and world by getting involved in missions. The following suggestions may help you get started.
- Help make sleeping bags
- Pray for the homeless and poor people in your community.
- Collect food, toiletries, etc… at your school and donate them to the church or other local ministry.
- Learn about children in other countries and cultures. Get a pen pal.
- Make greeting cards to go into our ministry packs.
- Visit an elderly person in a nursing home who has no family.
- Create your own ministry using your own talent. Just ask how!
Youth Can Do
Many youth have a great passion, concern, and ability to help others. Many are also creative but sometimes we all need a little boost to help ignite our spark. Try some of the ideas below if you need help getting started.
- Go on mission trip.
- Volunteer at Grace Fellowship
- Collect trial size toiletries, food, or clothing at your school, in your neighborhood, etc… and donate them to church.
- Volunteer to mow the yard or clean the house of someone who is unable to do it themselves.
- Give your time and energy to a local feeding program or homeless shelter.
- Do odd jobs around home or elsewhere and then donate the money you collect to missions.
- Have you got a talent or passion you want to use but are unsure how it could be utilized to help others? Call me and let’s talk.
Adults Can Do
Traditionally, adults have no problem finding things they believe in or support. However, when it comes to missions, often it is difficult for adults to find areas of passion that they also have time and talent in which to contribute. Let me offer the following suggestions.
- Go on mission trip.
- Serve in one of our weekly areas of ministry such as food pantry, showers, Grace Fellowship or Fan Club.
- Serve on a missions focus group, committee, or special project.
- Become a missions prayer partner.
- Make a monetary or in-kind donation.
- Become involved with a person who needs a little personal attention.
- Visit a neighbor who is in need.
- Got a special gift, talent, or passion? Let’s discuss how to use that in missions service
Steps To A Fuller Life Through Volunteering
Traditionally, adults have no problem finding things they believe in or support. However, when it comes to missions, often it is difficult for adults to find areas of passion that they also have time and talent in which to contribute. Let me offer the following suggestions.
- Determine how you want to serve. What is your passion?
- Determine the amount of time you can consistently give to that service each week.
- Determine where you want to serve. We’d love to benefit from your efforts here at First Baptist, however, maybe your passion lies outside our parameters of ministry.
- Having trouble with #3? Come talk to me (information below) and let’s see where your options lie.
