Community Missions Programs and Ministries

Food Pantry
Open Monday and Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Persons may visit the food pantry once every two weeks with a maximum amount of twelve times a year. Clothes Closet

Grace Fellowship
Provides Bible study, a hot meal, fellowship, and worship time every Thursday night from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the church. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Mark Holland. Read more...

Household Items
Available Monday and Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Provides household basics such as pots, pans, utensils, dishes, glasses, linens, toiletries, blankets, etc, to those in need. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Steve Blanchard.

Showers
Open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Showers are also available on Thursday nights from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Toiletries and towels are provided. Youth hand-make sleeping bags for the homeless.Sleeping Bags
Meet on Wednesday nights to hand make sleeping bags that will be given to the homeless. This is an important ministry to provide warmth and comfort to those without during cold nights. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Laura Hedrick at 358-5458, ext. 133.

Neighbors @ Hand

CARITASCARITAS
First Baptist Church serves as a homeless shelter for one week during the winter months. Volunteers provide three meals, showers, recreation, etc, for our approximately 40 guests. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Kathy Carpenter or Charlie Ball at 358-5458, ext. 133.


Operation Joy
A holiday ministry which provides Christmas joy to those in nursing homes, youth centers, hospitals, etc. by matching class, individual, or business sponsors with those in need. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Steve Blanchard.

Ministry To Internationals

We provide a variety of ministries and services to those in the international community. We help provide teachers for English As A Second Language and other special needs as related to us such as clothing, needs of new mothers, construction, household items, etc. Please check with Steve Blanchard regarding services and volunteer opportunities. 

Mobile Ministry

Every Saturday from 10:00am until 11:30am, a team of volunteers takes a van full of various supplies geared towards assisting the homeless to multiple locations in the city. At each location, we offer these supplies, as well as coffee, resources, information, and fellowship to those individuals who approach us. To volunteer to be on one of these teams, contact Steve Blanchard

Employment Assistance

On assigned dates, an employment counselor visits to assist individuals with job opportunities and readiness in a variety of areas. The counselor also assists people with setting up interviews, tips for employment, and other related information. Please contact Brenda Andrews for a schedule. 

Community Partnerships

First Baptist Missions is part of a broader base of religious and secular organizations whose intent is to help provide a wide range of services to the Richmond community. FBC Missions partners with several area churches and organizations to provide tutoring, financial assistance, community and individual support, referrals, beautification projects, etc. For more information on these partnerships or how to get more involved, please contact Steve Blanchard.
