Christian Community

When Jesus met with His disciples for the last time, He said to them...

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34).

The ministry of Christian Community seeks to promote loving relationships within First Baptist Church.

There are many ways we can do this in our church family. We have teams that are committed to engage our congregation in prayer, pastoral care, marriage enrichment, family building, women’s ministry, physical health issues, welcoming new members, and fellowship.

Our goal is to open the doors of our church so that all who enter here will find a place of belonging and feel loved and cared for.

The Gathering @FIVE is an informal time of worship for all ages with praise, preaching, and communion. Our inaugural service is Sunday, October 1 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The Gathering @FIVE is a lay-led, come-as-you-are, relaxed worship service where there is space for children to play and their noises are welcome. The service will last about 45 minutes with familiar traditional and creative worship elements. The preaching and scripture will follow the Revised Common Lectionary. Services of Prayer for Healing and Grief Support Group move to the fourth Sunday of each month beginning September 24.

Parish Health Medical Supply Closet

The Parish Health ministry sponsors a Medical Supply Closet and seeks donations of gently-used medical supplies such as metal crutches, walkers, canes, wheelchairs and knee scooters. Items will be available on loan to people who are convalescing. Please contact Emily Trueman, 804-737-8635, to make donations or requests for equipment.
